Jeff grew up in Poway, CA attending Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido.  While completing his degree in pastoral ministry at Corban College in Salem, Oregon, Jeff met and married his wife, Sharon.  After serving as a pastor for six years in Nampa, Idaho, Jeff followed a call to church planting which led him to the Temecula valley in 2002 to team-plant Life Church.  Four years later he set out with a new team to plant Murrieta Community Church (previously Impact Church).  Jeff and Sharon now have six children.  They love camping, fishing, volleyball, snow-skiing and creating memories with the kids.

Vision - Bringing glory to God in the church

Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

 

Mission - A fully functioning body of Christ

Ephesians 4:11-13 "It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

 

Purpose - Everything God intended in Christ

Colossians 1:28-29 "We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me."

 

Culture - Love is the environment

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

 

Core Values

1. Big Belief - We generate a culture of belief in God's competency to accomplish all He desires in bringing Him glory in the church.

2. Spirit-led - We believe in being Holy Spirit-empowered in bringing Him glory in the church.

3. Faithfulness - We believe God recognizes faithfulness in our part in bringing Him glory in the church.

4. Leadership - We believe leadership is critical in creating a fully functional body of Christ.

12. High Commitment - We make God's purposes our highest calling and priority in becoming everything God intended in Christ.

MCC is a culture of love.  We refuse to complain.  We take initiative.  We praise others.  We redirect acclaim.  We correct compassionately.  We focus outward.  We are slow to anger.  We forgive with the forgiveness we have received.  We pursue holiness.  We rejoice always.  We always protect.  We always trust. We always hope. We always persevere.  We never give up the fight to love.  We never, ever give up.  Love is the environment where the vision, mission and goal thrive.

Christianity pivots on answering One Question...

"Is Jesus Christ alone enough to make me right before God?" Salvation hinges on a single Person, Jesus Christ. So Christianity pivots on a single question. The gospel of Jesus Christ is based on 2 Facts, 2 Promises and 2 Responses demonstrated in one outward expression - baptism.

 

2 Facts - 1) Jesus died for my sin as my Savior (He paid for my guilt). 2) Jesus rose again as my Lord (In conquering death He is Lord of all).

 

2 Promises - 1) Forgiveness (guilt is gone). 2) New Life (the Holy Spirit begins new life).

 

2 Responses - 1) Repentance ("I no longer trust my own way."). 2) Belief ("Jesus alone is enough to make me right before God.").

 

...you become shaped by Three Priorities...

Priority 1 : GOD - My first priority in life is worship, time with God in prayer and the Word and giving of my resources to His glory. (John 4:23; Luke 12:34)

 

Priority 2 : OTHERS - My second priority is growing in Christ through fellowship and strengthening His church by serving. (Hebrews 10:24:25; 1 Peter 4:10)

 

Priority 3 : THE LOST - My third priority is in telling others about Jesus and making disciples. (1 Peter 2:11-12; Matthew 28:18-20)

 

...and strive toward Six Commitments...

Commitment 1 : Worship & Prayer (MCC 101) - The lifestyle of a believer is constantly directed toward God. The most basic manifestation of placing God as the number one priority is a quiet time with Him in prayer and the Word. Other manifestations are a commitment to public worship, fasting and attending prayer gatherings. (John 4:23)

 

Commitment 2 : Giving (MCC 101) - The teaching of Christ is simple. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Luke 12:34) A soul that is saved leaves nothing unsurrendered in bringing Him glory. MCC teaches not percentages but the principles of giving personally, regularly, proportionately, sacrificially, purposefully, willingly and cheerfully. (1 Cor. 16:1-4; 2 Cor. 9:6-7)

 

Commitment 3 : Fellowship (MCC 201) - MCC believes LifeGroups are more than "Bible Studies" though we study the Bible. They are more than "Prayer Groups" though we pray. And fellowship is for more than fellowship's sake. Believers commit to fellowship in order to become everything God intended in Christ. (Heb. 10:24-25)

 

Commitment 4 : Serving (MCC 301) - Serving is why Christ came. (Mark 10:45) Serving others allows us to become everything God intended in Christ. (1 Peter 4:10). God has gifted every believer with special gifts to be used to build others up and glorify God in the church.

 

Commitment 5 : Witnessing (MCC 401) - The love of God in Christ you have received is meant to be shared. Sharing involves mission trips, ministry in the community and personal witnessing. (Col. 4:4-6) MCC asks it's members, in placing the lost as Priority 3 in their life, to share Jesus with at least one person before Easter every year.

 

Commitment 6 : Disciple-Making (MCC 401) - The Lord's last command was to make-disciples. (Mt. 28:18-20) MCC is committed to equipping every believer to accomplish the Lord's vision in this by familiarizing believers with the Scriptures, modeling by example the Spirit-filled life, and equipping believers with the ability to teach others everything Jesus has commanded. All our ministries (Men's, Women's, LifeGroups, Youth, etc.) are built around the principle of disciple-making.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Denominational Affiliation

Murrieta Community Church was planted and is affiliated as a developing church under the Christian & Missionary Alliance. The regional office is the South Pacific District, headquartered in Murrieta, California.
